Free description

Kaworu is sent to NERV as a replacement for a pilot who becomes unable to pilot his/her Evangelion. This cutie is very different from other people in Evangelion because of his cheery and carefree disposition. He befriends Shinji immediately and even makes him open up himself to him, which is pretty remarkable given Shinji's usually heavvy seclusiveness. Kaworu is deeply psychologically and philosophically knowledgable and has a language you wouldn't expect from a 14-year-old.

You might think there is something fishy about such a perfect character. Well, there is. All his records are classified, except his birthday. Also, NERV are very suspicious of Kaworu because he can do extremely interesting things with his synch ratio, in fact things which normally shouldn't be possible...
