Free description
Kento is courageous, determined (*coughs* stubborn), and physically the strongest Trooper by far; he's nearly unbeatable. He can be a little hotheaded, and a little too blunt, but he always admits when he knows he's wrong. He's also very compassionate, which is probably one of the reasons he is best friends with Mouri Shin of the armor Torrent, who is widely accepted to be the most gentle of the five boys. He's the joker of the group, more lighthearted than the others (although he can be very serious), and more comfortable around people, but his habit of expressing an opinion or idea before his brain has the chance to stop his mouth has gotten him into trouble on occasion.
The two things Kento likes to do most are eat and fight. (Another good reason he's friends with Shin, who is a wonderful cook!) He's beefier than the other Troopers -- but don't be deceived, it's mostly muscle. Both of his parents practice kung fu, but it was his mother who taught him, and he's a master. Kento's mama is neat. ^_^ His father owns a very successful restaurant, and because of this, he is (surprisingly) the richest of the Troopers (he certainly doesn't act it!), not counting Nasuti/Mia, of course.
Kento is the oldest of five. His siblings are (in descending order): Rinfei, his sister, 3 years younger; Yin, his brother, 5 years younger; Mei Ryo, another brother, 8 years younger; and Chun Fa, the baby sister at 11 years younger than Kento (literally, since he was 14 when the series started). Maybe you can tell by the names that Kento's family is Chinese. His original name, Shuu (I just call him Kento because, well, I like it better) can be spelt any number of ways, including Xiu. Kento is the name they gave him in the dub, and it's Japanese. Go figure. Anyway, Kento's extended family is a huge clan, which he will one day be leader of! ^_^ Large and in charge, bay-bee!!
Each Samurai Trooper has a counterpart amongst the bad guys. Kento's is Rajura, the Ma Sho of Illusion (that's the Warlord Dais in the dub), a 400+ warrior who looks about 25) with long, wavy white hair and an eyepatch. Rajura likes spiders and spins illusions like webs, while Kento is very down to earth. (Haha, I so punny!!) I personally enjoy pairing Kento with Dais, but I also like him with Shin, and Sekhmet/Naaza, Shin's counterpart, the half-snake-god Ma Sho of Venom. I've noticed that many doujinshi pair Kento and Touma, however.
Kento is, in my opinion, underappreciated. All five Troopers are bishonen, but Kento is drawn differently from the other four, and his uniqueness can make him seem ugly in comparison. Not so. He may not be as slender or feminine, but that's a fair tradeoff for what he is: beefcake. ^_^ Kento has lots of muscle, and is practically superstrong without his armor. He is acknowledged as being the best climber and jumper, too, which to me equals agility (and a certain amout of flexibility). His clothes aren't always (make that usually) the cutting edge of style, but he wears what he's comfortable in, and he looks pretty damn good most of the time, too!
Personality-wise, Kento really is a sweetie. Children and animals love him, and he's always willing to stick up for his friends and family. The world couldn't be in safer hands! ^.~
