He took up residence in Tokyo and basically existed on a day-to-day basis. All of this changed when he was hired by Hiruma Gohei to kill the recently reappeared Hitokiri Battousai, Kenshin Himura. He was defeated by Kenshin but came to respect him and joined his party.
